Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana April 9, 1915

Mrs. Leona Hodge died at the home of her brother, Bell Moore, in the West part of town, on Monday. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Wednesday afternoon at half past two, by Rev. WB Collier. Interment at Union Cemetery Leona D. Moore was born in Wavleand Feb 28, 1887 and died April 5,1915 aged 28 years, 1 month and four days. She was married to Charles Hodge in October 1906. To them were born three children, Mary and Floyd and one dying in infancy. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves 5 brothers: Perry and Bell of Waveland; Merle of Crawfordsville, Claude of Mecca, and Wallace of Rushville. Her father, mother and two sisters have preceded her beyond this life. She had lived her entire life in Waveland, with the exception of the last few years. She was removed from her home in Mecca, a few weeks ago and was brought to her brother's home at this place, where she died, having desired to be brought back to her old home to spend her last day. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early girlhood, and when a girl was always found in her place at Sunday school and other Church services. She has passed to the great beyond, and we that are left, can only say with the Master, "not our will, but Thine be done," and leave her in the care of the God who gave her. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Merle Moore and Miss Hazel Jacks of Crawfordsville; the Misses Hennessy, of New Market and Mr. & Mrs. Claude Moore of Mecca. -- kbz
